Official Biography
Kathryn Willms is a literary agent at The Rights Factory representing mainly big-idea nonfiction books. She loves working with writers on ambitious, unconventional, and smart book projects that teach us something new or change the way we see ourselves and the world. Kathryn’s projects for the agency have been in various categories including cookbook, memoir, culture, lifestyle, and women’s issues. She’s also actively acquiring science, nature/environment topics, and narrative nonfiction.
She’s drawn to works rooted in expertise that have a strong narrative voice and sense of humour. In her non-agenting life, she runs Kwill Communications, providing editing, writing, and project management in the educational field. Kathryn started her career in publishing working as an editor for Colborne Communications, where she eventually became VP. She was also the hybrid publisher of Iguana Books. In all her work, she’s inspired by the power of writing to transform, transport, enlighten, and entertain. Originally from BC, Kathryn holds a MA for the University of Calgary, and currently lives in Toronto.​
