Julia Kim

Based in the vibrant city of Toronto, Julia Kim is a literary agent on the lookout for fresh, bold voices in adult literary fiction and select genre fiction like mystery, crime, and horror. But her passion doesn’t stop there—Julia is also drawn to non-fiction that challenges and inspires, covering topics such as history, politics, current affairs, cultural criticism, women's issues, biography, memoir, food, lifestyle, art, film/TV, and pop culture.

Julia is dedicated to amplifying voices that need to be heard. She is particularly keen to work with BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and historically underrepresented writers, helping them bring their unique perspectives to a broader audience. As a second-generation Korean Canadian, Julia has a special affinity for diverse stories from diasporic communities in North America and beyond, and she’s always on the hunt for narratives that push boundaries and open minds.

Before joining The Rights Factory in 2024, Julia honed her editorial eye and deep love for storytelling by working as a freelance editor and Assistant Editor at Dundurn Press. She brings a sharp editorial sense, a commitment to her authors, and a genuine passion for finding stories that resonate.
