How group Coaching Works
Our coaching program is not just about honing your writing skills; it's about cultivating a holistic approach to storytelling. We offer a unique blend of personalized coaching and a supportive peer community. Whether you're a seasoned author or taking your first steps into the world of writing, our program is crafted to meet you where you are, and guide you toward your literary goals.
The Basics
You’ll join a group with no more than eight writers led by a professional literary coach.
Over a seven-week period, you’ll participate in six group coaching sessions with your writing coach where you’ll receive personalized feedback on your work-in-progress. The seventh week allows our writers to have a brief break and catch up on their writing.

First Meeting
Your first meeting will be hosted on Zoom where you’ll meet your writing peers and your coach. In this first session, you’ll share a little bit about yourself, your writing experience, and your writing goals and expectations for the coaching experience. If you feel comfortable, share your writing challenges with this project--you’ll be amazed at the support you’ll receive from other writers who have likely experienced the same thing. (We’ve all had our struggles!) Your coach (and peers!) will help you break through those pesky obstacles with advice and guidance.

You’ll also share an overview of your writing project: the overall plot and main character arcs.
Meetings 2-6
For each of these meetings, you’ll submit up to 5,000 words (approx. 20 pages, double-spaced) of a work-in-progress. That might sound like a lot but remember that this coaching program is for YOU. Don’t feel pressured to submit 5,000 words every week if submitting 2,500 words is more comfortable for you.
The coach and your peers review the work and provide honest, constructive feedback on how the manuscript can be improved. The feedback is provided in a group-setting to allow you to learn from your coach and your fellow writers. You’ll be encouraged to read your peers’ works and provide your thoughts. The more you practice constructively critique the work of others, the more adept you’ll become at identifying opportunities for improvement in your own work.
Some of these meetings will take place over Zoom while others will take place over Slack.
During Zoom meetings, you’ll receive verbal feedback from your coach and your peers. On weeks where Zoom calls are not held (Slack weeks), the coach and your peers will provide written feedback on your work.
You are always welcome to reach out to your coach via email or Slack with your questions about feedback or writing in general.
Once the sessions have ended, you’ll have participated in four Zoom calls and two Slack-based sessions. If you’ve submitted approximately 5,000 words per week, you’ll have received feedback on (and written!) approximately 30,000 words. That’s half a novel!
High five? High five!
