Known for his strategic approach to storytelling, Sam will help you fine-tune your manuscript, sharpen your narrative, and develop a compelling pitch that catches the eye of agents and editors. SAM HIYATE is keen to discover new voices and help writers prepare their works for market, and to help them build lasting careers. At his agency, The Rights Factory, he's worked with colleagues to discover and develop works with a number of writers and helped put them on bestseller lists. Sam also teaches A Literary Agent’s Guide to Getting Published at the University of Toronto Continuing Studies and is the host of the podcast Agent Provocateur, giving a behind-the-scenes view into publishing and agenting.

Stacey Kondla: The Genre Whisperer

With her deep love for books and extensive experience as a literary agent and bookseller, Stacey has a keen eye for what works in various genres. She specializes in helping writers polish their manuscripts to industry standards while staying true to their unique voice and vision. A life-long bibliophile, Stacey’s experience includes working as a Field Representative for Scholastic Book Fairs, managing at Chapters/Indigo stores, freelance editing, and serving on the organizing committee of When Words Collide (A Festival for Readers and Writers). She joined The Rights Factory as a Literary Agent in 2018 and represents fiction and nonfiction authors across age categories and across genres. Stacey is drawn to strong narrative voices, innovative storytelling, feeling all the feels, laughing all the laughs, and also the dark and the weird.
